Fire in Pinckneyville, Illinois
A major fire on the square in downtown Pinckneyville caused the death of one firefighter and destroyed the Kuntz Opera House and the adjoining Pinckneyville Antique Mall on Friday, June 17, 2011. The opera house was built in 1896 and was a fixture in downtown Pinckneyville for generations. Both buildings collapsed during the fire.
